Part of the Stagecoach Group, public transport company South Yorkshire Supertram provide tram services that operate across Sheffield. The routes run across 21 miles and can carry up to 250 passengers per tram, with the fleet consisting of 32 trams.

In October 2019, they also opened a section that operates on the mainline Network Rail, servicing Parkgate and Rotherham Central.

Maintenance work carried out by Supertram

In order to ensure the trams operate efficiently, maintenance work has to be carried out regularly. Supertram have an internal maintenance team that look after the trams, track and overhead line.

The Overhead Line maintenance team can operate over 1500 metres when conducting work. Meaning team members can be located at different ends of the track occasionally. Because of this, the team require additional support for communication.
