As a result of this continued growth, the decision was made to relocate from their old premises which they had outgrown and further extensions on the new site have since been made having “Rapidly filled the space”.

Understanding the importance of communication throughout, especially within an expanding business, Health and Safety Advisor Brian turned to Radio Solutions for two-way radios. Having previously ordered from Radio Solutions Brian knew that the Motorola XT420 was the ideal choice for their requirements, along with RSM Remote Speaker Mics.

When discussing their radios requirements, he explained that the radios play an important role throughout their day to day activities. With the premises being of significant size and staff located in various locations, having radios proved to be more user friendly than telephones. Brian detailed “with staff being mobile, the radios are more beneficial than telephones. It means the staff won’t have to rely on listening out for a phone that could be in another room.”

The radios have also proven to be of value to the sales teams and are now an essential part of their working day. Speedy communication is required in order to respond to customer queries quickly and efficiently:

“The radios allow for quick communication between the shop floor and office and have saved a massive amount of time in terms of locating material and sales inquiries.”
Due to the operational success and positive staff feedback, the radios were trialed at the second site based in Hartlepool. The trial proved a success and radios have subsequently been rolled out across this site as well.

Along with the benefits of quick communication, Brian also mentioned how the radios are a vital safety feature for emergencies should there be one;
“For emergency purposes with everyone having access to their own radio means if we did have an emergency and had to roll call with someone missing we’d have a means of contact with them”

Amongst the radio equipment at Phoenix Steel, there is also a variety of accessories such as remote speakers and headsets available for staff to use depending on their requirements and working environment. Some areas throughout the building have loud machinery in operation, meaning hands-free working and headsets may be required.
