Two-way radios help co-ordinate music summer camps

Rocksteady Music School recently purchased 46 Motorola TLKR T80 Extreme walkie talkie two-way radios to help co-ordinate communications across its music summer camps.

Rocksteady is the UK’s largest rock school, teaching 11,000 children across the UK.

For the first two weeks of the summer holidays, Rocksteady also run summer camps. Children can rehearse in their bands, learn instruments, shoot a music video and put on concerts.

“The camps typically happen in schools with five or six staff,” explained Rocksteady CEO Scott Monks.

“The radios will enable all the staff to communicate quickly and easily and in particular will help request support staff.

“For instance, [the music teachers] calling on support staff if students need a toilet break. And it also helps with health and safety, being able to summon help quickly.”

In previous years Mr Monks said they had not used two-way radios and because of this had needed more support staff circulating, classes had to be physically closer together and music teachers had to employ ‘good old-fashioned shouting’!

The Motorola TLKR T80 Extreme is ideal for outdoors, schools, sports and more. All-weather proof, it is license free and includes key features such as LCD display, 8 channels and up to 10 km range, with no call charges.
