The National Trust recently upgraded its two-way radio system at Wightwick Manor and Gardens, purchasing six Motorola DP1400 two-way radios from Radio Solutions.

The radios will be used across the site in Wolverhampton, and will be co-ordinated by the Duty Manager.

They will allow the Duty Manager to keep in contact with all key departments including the visitor reception, shop, tea room, gardeners, first aiders and house team for team updates, general communications and in case of an emergency.

Assistant House Stewart Andrea Thursby said: “We have started using the radios and found them to be excellent. We especially like the new multi charger so people can just come in to the office and know where to grab a radio without searching around.

“I am currently waiting to see if it will be possible in our new financial year to get another set to replace some of the older radios, as we need more now due to an increase in staff.”

Two-way radios are used for up to ten hours a day at Wightwick Manor and Gardens, so a reliable and durable model is vital for the team. From experience Ms Thursby believes the Motorola DP1400  consistently outperforms other models with its superior battery life.

“Your team [at Radio Solutions] were very helpful and knowledgeable, displaying excellent customer service and I would recommend your company to everyone,” Ms Thursby continued.

“It was especially helpful being able to send you a radio to tune in for us.”
